The following new photos of Chris at events over the past couple of weeks have been added to the gallery. Enjoy!

I also wanted to take a moment to say goodbye to you guys. It’s been great fun working on the site and getting to know so many of you. Even though I won’t be running the site anymore, I will still visit often and definitely continue following Chris’ career. Rachel will be taking over the site from here and I’m sure she’ll do a wonderful job with it. She runs quite a few other amazing sites and I think she’ll be a really great fit here. 🙂

‘Thor’ director Kenneth Branagh on humbling gods, celestial-human love, and impact of Shakespeare and ‘Star Trek’ – Exclusive

Please, hammer, DO hurt ‘em.

In the new trailer for director Kenneth Branagh’s Thor, we finally see star Chris Hemsworth in mallet-swinging combat against his backstabbing brother Loki, a planet of ice-giants, and the heaven-sent hellfire machine The Destroyer. Yesterday, Branagh talked exclusively with EW about the triumvirate of villains in the movie, opening in 3-D on May 6.

Now the director goes into more detail about how he attempts to humanize a comic-book god, Thor’s clumsy relationship with women, whether he’ll make a cameo appearance, and how Star Trek and Shakespeare helped him find his hero.

For all the action extravagance in the new Thor trailer, a surprising amount is devoted to comedy, with most of the jokes at Thor’s expense. That’s a tactical choice, because the movie’s biggest challenge is to make its all-powerful blond god relatable to the average popcorn-muncher. Branagh says to cut a god down to size, it’s important for Thor to be able to laugh at Thor.

Chris Hemsworth at G-Star Raw: No Hats, Ladies!

Chris Hemsworth — soon to play Marvel’s “Thor” — could not have turned more heads at Saturday’s G-Star Raw show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week if he were the real Norse god of thunder.

StyleList asked the Aussie actor turned comic-book superhero what he liked on a woman.

“Whatever a woman feels comfortable in is usually appealing,” he said with a smile. “That’s the main thing. They wear it better that way.”

The actor’s wife, Elsa Pataky (pictured with him), chimed in: “He likes a natural look. If he doesn’t like something, he’s very honest.”

And what accessory has he vetoed? Pataky revealed, “When I put a hat on it’s like, ‘I don’t know about the hat.'”

Hemsworth may not approve of headwear but he does enjoy a wide range of styles on women. He told StyleList, “I’m all about variety. It’s wintertime, layers and jackets and scarves are great. Then in summertime, dresses.”

The 27-year-old was clad in G-Star Raw jacket, T-shirt and jeans and was pleased with his apparel. “All of it is comfortable, it fits well and doesn’t fall apart.”

What did the Fashion Week newbie think about the momentous occasion? “So far, so good. Obviously, enough people gather from all over the world to show their pieces and it’s a very positive atmosphere and a lot of fun.”

Hemsworth was asked what was the best part of being in the big-screen adaptation of “Thor”? He told StyleList, “Look, being part of that comic-book world is pretty awesome. It’s existed for more years than I’ve been around. It’s an honor to be involved in it all.”

Really? I thought it was his character’s flowing blond locks and bright red cape.

It’s a new ‘Dawn’ for ‘Cabin In The Woods’ as Sony and MGM continue to make their deal

MGM’s financial woes are the stuff of legend at this point.

As long as I’ve lived in Los Angeles… just over twenty years at this point… MGM has been “in trouble.” There have been several major shifts in ownership, and who owns what, and the MGM library has been broken up and resold many times over. As a result, this latest round of MGM difficulty has been a fair amount of white noise for me, more of the same, with the notable exception of the fates of “Bond 23” and “The Hobbit.”

Those were the biggest stories tied up in this larger story, and as Greg Ellwood wrote last night, it looks like “Bond 23” has become terribly important to Sony. And why not? They had a major part in both “Casino Royale” and “Quantum Of Solace,” and they’ve gotten used to that James Bond money. They’ve also been part of laying some narrative groundwork that I hope pays off finally in this next film, and with Sony already in the Daniel Craig business in a big way with Fincher’s “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” it makes sense that they want to keep track of him and be part of scheduling his time over the next few years.

But now that the big questions are out of the way, there are a few other important issues on the table, and it looks like Sony may be riding to the rescue of some smaller films that need the help. In particular, “Red Dawn” and “Cabin In The Woods,” which have been missing in action for a while now, and which are both movies that deserve their day in court.
