“Snow White and the Huntsman” Casts a New Dwarf

One of several fairy tale films in the works, Snow White And The Huntsman is already busy shooting under the direction of Rupert Sanders. So we were surprised to see that a change has been made to one of the dwarf roles, with Johnny Harris taking over as Nero for Stephen Graham.

Harris, currently receiving plenty of praise for his work on supernatural drama The Fades, is stepping into the part according to The Independent (via The Playlist). Graham sadly had to back out due to a schedule clash with miniseries Parade’s End.

The main Snow White cast already includes Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Sam Claflin and Charlize Theron as the heroine, the huntsman, the prince and the evil queen respectively.

As for the new dwarf arrival, he’s joining Ian McShane (Caesar), Nick Frost (Tiberius), Bob Hoskins (Constantine), Toby Jones (Claudius), Eddie Marsan (Hadrian) and Ray Winstone (Trajan). Harris will also be seen in Welcome To The Punch opposite James McAvoy and Mark Strong next year.

Snow White And The Huntsman will be in theatres on June 1, 2012. (Source)

“The Avengers” Was Not Shot On An iPhone

Last week, MovieWeb.com reported The Avengers cinematographer Seamus McGarvey used an iPhone to shoot certain scenes in the big-budget superhero tale. It seems the director of photography was misquoted, and clarified what he meant in a recent interview. Take a look at what he had to say below.

“I was talking about how up and coming film makers have access to a whole range of new technologies which expand our options as filmmakers. I mentioned that the iPhone and the Canon 5d Mk2 were devices currently used on many Hollywood productions. I used the Canon on some shots on Marvel’s The Avengers movie. Unfortunately, this was edited to read that I shot some of the film with the iPhone. This is not true.”

Walt Disney Pictures, which is distributing The Avengers, also confirmed that no shots were filmed using an iPhone on the superhero ensemble. The outlet which originally ran the Seamus McGarvey interview, Irish Film and Television Network, did not respond to the allegations of misquoting, but they did remove The Avengers remark from their interview.

Marvel’s The Avengers comes to theaters May 4th, 2012 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is directed by Joss Whedon. (Source)

“The Avengers” Footage Shot With an iPhone?

The Avengers is currently in post-production, with a release date set for May 4, 2012. Even though this is a big-budget ensemble, some scenes were shot in an unconventional way, using an iPhone 4. Take a look at what director of photography Seamus McGarvey had to say about using the iPhone for several shots seen in The Avengers, some of which actually made it into the trailer.

“The beauty of photography or cinema is that you make every choice based on the content at hand. On The Avengers, I did a couple of shots on the iPhone and they are in the movie. In fact, they are in the trailer! I understand that sometimes there is no choice and you have to go for the cheapest option, but if you are limited for choice, you can still make poignant decisions that will effect the look of the film.”

The cinematographer didn’t reveal which shots were crafted using the smart phone, but it doesn’t seem like there is any difference in quality throughout the trailer.

“The Avengers 2” to Assemble a New Team?

While at NYCC 2011 to promote next summer’s epic Marvel ensemble adventure The Avengers, producer and Marvel president Kevin Feige revealed that The Avengers 2 will mix things up by introducing a new team roster, and that it will tie directly into Iron Man 3.

IGN was on the scene, where they got the following quote after asking Kevin Feige if The Avengers 2 would be introducing new superheroes into the Marvel Film universe.

“Absolutely. That’s the fun of it. Introducing new characters. Seeing: ‘How will things change after Iron Man goes through his next adventure? After Thor goes through his next adventure? If we do another Cap adventure, how will things change? The dynamic between them? Their own worlds? So that the dynamic in The Avengers 2 is actually quite different than it is in the first one.”

When asked how The Avengers 2 will tie into Iron Man 3, he had this to say.

“(It will lead into) what we refer to as Phase Two of this Avengers Assemble talk, which will lead to The Avengers 2. (Iron Man 3) will be a part of that”.”

Other superheroes that could possible show up, who have been a part of The Avengers team in the past, include Ant-Man (who is set to get his own stand-alone film), his wife The Wasp, Quicksilver, The Scarlet Witch, her husband Vision, Black Panther (also rumored to get his own stand-alone movie), Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, War Machine, Moon Knight, Captain Britain, Luke Cage, and Doctor Strange.

The Avengers comes to theaters May 4th, 2012 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

Kristen Stewart Talks About “Snow White and the Huntsman”

Kristen Stewart will bring an edgy new twist to an age-old heroine in her upcoming film, Snow White and the Huntsman as she transforms “The Fairest in the Land” into a courageous warrior.

However, the 21–year-old beauty says putting a violent spin on the beloved character presented all sorts of challenges.

“It’s hard to play an action hero who is also the most compassionate person on earth,” Kristen said of her Snow White in an interview with Box Office magazine. “You can’t hate. You epitomize bleeding hearts, so how the [expletive] do you do an action movie like that?”

The actress revealed her grittier version of the fairytale classic will demand that Snow White put aside her deep-rooted compassion in order to fight for her people.

“Basically, I’m fighting evil — I’m fighting the most evil [villains] — and it’s fine that they’re being killed. It’s anguish. It’s literally… anguish,” Kristen said of her character’s torturous inner conflict. “She takes absolutely no pleasure in ever hurting anything.”

Though the role presents a tremendous challenge, Kristen appreciates the film’s fresh approach to the story, which blurs the lines between good and evil for the porcelain-skinned princess.

“It’s a really… cool way to approach a movie where so many people die,” she said. “Not that I’m criticizing violent movies — I love them, generally — but it is nice to do it this way.”
