Chris Hemsworth – “Thor” (2011)
Posted on Author RachelComments Off on “Thor 2” Will Begin Filming Summer 2012
Marvel’s Thor 2 appears to be back on track, and we’ve now got a brief update on the production. After running through what seemed like a revolving door of potential directors (the latest of which, Patty Jenkins, left the project in early December), television helmer Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) has been set to direct the superhero follow-up. Star Tom Hiddleston recently spoke to Empire and revealed that filming is poised to begin this summer:
“All I know about Thor 2 is that we’re supposed to film it in London in the summer and that it is being directed by Alan Taylor.”
Like I said, it’s a brief update, but it’s good to know that things seem to be moving forward. Both Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman are set to return, but plot details are being (predictably) kept under lock and key. We should have a better idea of where the story will go after The Avengers in May. Thor 2 is slated for November 15th, 2013. (Source)

Recently elaborating on his career with the U.K.’s Independent, British actor Tom Hiddleston surely discussed his ‘God Of Mischief’ reprisal as ‘Loki’ in Marvel and Joss Whedon’s superhero phenomenon flick The Avengers. Take a look below at what Tom called a ‘surreal’ experience:
“There was one day when, as Loki, I was sat on some steps, staring at the Avengers in front of me. It would be quite odd just to look at a grouping that involves [such actors as] Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Samuel L Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner and Chris Hemsworth. But the fact that they were dressed in the most outlandish hero costumes was bizarre! And I thought to myself, ‘This is the dizzy heights.'”
Directed by Joss Whedon, The Avengers hit theatres May 4, 2012. (Source)

Posted on Author RachelComments Off on Red Skull Revealed as Secret “Avengers” Villain?
We all know that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is the main villain of Marvel’s The Avengers. But this Joss Whedon directed ensemble is rumored to have a second villain that has, until now, been kept a tightly guarded secret.
NECA’s HeroClix is set to release their Marvel’s the Avengers line in 2012, and a product description sent to retailers seemingly gives away the identity of the film’s top secret villain. If we are to believe this toy description, Captain America: The First Avenger foe Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) will be the one helping Loki to destroy our team of superheroes this summer.
Here is the product description for the HeroClix line of Marvel’s the Avengers miniature figurines.
“Charging straight out of theaters and onto your tabletop, Marvel’s the Avengers Movie HeroClix set features heroes like Captain America and Thor as they battle the villainy of the Red Skull and Loki! Each Counter-Top display includes standard one-figure boosters as well as new three-figure “Team Packs”! Team Packs are designed with strong thematic undertones – play a Hydra force or defend freedom with a S.H.I.E.L.D. team pack!”
It should be noted that at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger, Red Skull is transported into another realm, which could very well be Asgard. Its also possible that Red Skull is include in his Marvel’s the Avengers line simply because it contains 24 single figures, plus 4 team packs of 3 figures each. That’s a lot of characters needed to fill out this particular set of miniatures, and NECA may simply be borrowing characters from other Marvel movies.
Marvel’s the Avengers comes to theaters May 4th, 2012 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is directed by Joss Whedon. (Source)

Marvel has unleashed a new international Russian trailer for The Avengers, and it contains a bit more new footage. The trailer is completely in Russian but you still get a pretty good idea of what is going on. There’s no doubt that this film is going to be epic.
Posted on Author RachelComments Off on “The Avengers” to Be Converted For 3D Release
Earlier today, Walt Disney Pictures announced Marvel’s The Avengers will be converted for a 3D release. Director Joss Whedon recently spoke about the news, assuring fans that Marvel’s the Avengers isn’t, “obnoxiously 3D.” Here’s what the filmmaker had to say below.
“There’s no, ‘Oh look, we’re going to spend 20 minutes going through this tunnel because it’s in 3D!’ And no one is pointing at the screen the entire time. But it’s an action movie. Things tend to hurtle toward the screen anyway.”
Joss Whedon also said he is fully behind the decision to covert Marvel’s the Avengers to 3D in post-production, and that 3D fits his style of directing.
“Yeah, it’s fun! I’m not a big fan of extreme long lens, talky movies. I like to see the space I’m in and relate to it, so 3D kind of fits my aesthetic anyway. And the technology has advanced so far in the past couple years.”
Marvel’s The Avengers is still keeping its May 4, 2012 release date, despite the 3D conversion. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Robert Downey Jr., Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson and is directed by Joss Whedon. (Source)
