Michael Shannon and Chris Hemsworth have signed on to be Jerry Bruckheimer’s Horse Soldiers. Deadline reports that the pair will star together in the mega-producer’s upcoming film of that name, about the early days of the post-9/11 war in Afghanistan, when horse-riding U.S. operatives worked with native warlords to oust the Taliban from its control of the country. The film is based on a book about the soldiers’ exploits, written by Doug Stanton.
Horse Soldiers is being produced by Bruckheimer and Black Label Media, and directed by acclaimed Danish photojournalist Nicolai Fuglsig, a relative newcomer to the world of making films. It presumably won’t be going into production for a while, though, since Hemsworth is currently fulfilling his franchise duties on the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, and Shannon is starring in The Shape Of Water with Guillermo Del Toro, before taking a just-announced role on The Weinstein Company’s historical drama The Current War. Chris Hemsworth and Cate Blanchett have weighed into the debate on the refugee crisis, calling on governments to increase their foreign aid during a Facebook Live video from their Queensland movie set.
The pair, who are both filming the latest Thor movie on the Gold Coast, appeared live for 30 minutes on the UNHCR — UN Refugee Agency Facebook page last night, where they asked fans to sign the UNHCR’s #WithRefugees petition.
The petition, which has close to 1 million signatures worldwide, calls on governments to “act with solidarity and shared responsibility” to the refugee crisis and will be delivered to UN headquarters in New York ahead of the UN General Assembly high-level summit next Monday.
In the video, Hemsworth acts as the interviewer questioning Blanchett, the UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, about the time she spent with families in refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan. Take a look below:

Chris’ Thor co-star, Tom Hiddleston won the Best Actor prize at the UK TV Choice Awards which was held in London. Tom is currently filming Thor: Ragnarok in Australia so obviously couldn’t make the ceremony, but he still took some time out to accept the gong for his acclaimed role in The Night Manager.
But while Tom was filming his acceptance speech, his camera time was hijacked by his co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Idris Elba. Take a look at the hilarious hijinks below:

Posted on Author RachelComments Off on The Warriors Three to Return For “Thor: Ragnarok”
Next year is going to be a very packed and very promising year for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only are we getting the highly anticipated sequel to James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy as well as the first solo Spider-Man movie in the MCU, Spider-Man: Homecoming, but we are also getting what could be the best Thor movie yet with Thor: Ragnarok. While “Thor: Ragnarok” has added a ton of new talent for the third installment of the franchise, it looks like some friendly faces will be returning as well.
Thanks to a couple of posts to Instagram, it seems all but confirmed that the Warriors Three will indeed be coming back for Thor: Ragnarok. The movie is currently filming in Australia, and a tattoo shop there called Punktured Tattoo recently got a visit from none other than Ray Stevenson, who plays Volstagg. The actor stopped in to get a tattoo “in between filming.”
The next clue came in the form of an Instagram post from one of the other Warriors Three actors, Tadanobu Asano, who plays Hogun. Asano was in both of the previous Thor movies, but his role in Thor: The Dark World was quite small. The actor posted a picture of himself on a beach, and simply captioned it with “Hello Australlia.” Unless he is just taking a very coincidental vacation, it pretty much seems like a sure thing that Hogun will be back. As for Zachary Levi, who plays Fandral, he hinted about his involvement in Thor: Ragnarok during San Diego Comic-Con, so that just about seals the deal as far as seeing Thor’s most trusted warrior companions in the movie. Disney has confirmed that it will make only one Avengers: Infinity movie rather than the two it had announced previously.
Disney said on Friday that it still plans to release Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War as planned on May 4, 2018. But what was slated to be the second part in that story, Avengers: Infinity War Part II, has now been renamed as an Untitled Avengers project while retaining the May 3, 2019 release date.
The two “Infinity War” movies were announced together in October, 2014, with both directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. Two months ago, the Russo brothers told the Uproxx site that the third and fourth Avengers were being retitled in part to clarify that the films would be two separate films rather than one large film split in half.
Production of “Avengers: Infinity War” is expected to begin later this year. The Russos are directing from a script by the writing team of Christopher Marcus and Stephen McFeely with a back story based on immensely powerful Infinity Gems described in various Marvel stories.
Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner starred in both movies. Downey and Renner have been confirmed to appear in “Infinity Wars.” (Source)
Posted on Author RachelComments Off on Paul Feig Discusses the Cut “Ghostbusters” Dance Sequence
Looks like the decision to cut Chris Hemsworth’s dance sequence in Ghosbusters reboot was a pricey one.
As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, the scene of the Thor star dancing to the Bee Gees, which now appears in the closing credits, cost in the low seven figures and was apparently the “biggest decision” of director Paul Feig’s life.
“It was stopping the flow for the audience, because even though they really loved it, they were having trouble coming back out of it. It was making the rhythm a little too goofy, in a weird way, and it was hurting our story a little bit . but it was Chris Hemsworth doing this amazing dance sequence!”
Foxtel’s creative platform ‘Make It Yours’ continues in July with new activity across media that includes a starring role by movie superstar Chris Hemsworth as you’ve never seen him before. The campaign showcases the differentiating benefits for customers of Foxtel, including the ability to stream from over 1,200 of the hottest movies on demand, anytime you want, and the best choice in new drama, lifestyle shows and complete seasons to suit everyone. Take a look at the commercial below:
Chris’ latest film, Ghostbusters hit theatres this weekend. Directed by Paul Feig, the movie features an all-star cast of Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy. Take a look below at what the critics have to say about the film:
Metro.co.uk — As likeable as our central female quartet may be, it’s ultimately Chris Hemsworth who almost steals the entire film from under their noses as bungling, thick-as-a-brick receptionist Kevin. Because Chris – whose character is so endearingly dim he completely fails to realise just how much he is being comically objectified by his new female employees – proves himself to be rather an adept comedian as he bumbles his way through proceedings.
HollywoodReporter.com — What’s most surprising is the curious shortage of chemistry among the four leads, who never quite appear comfortable as a unit despite their overlapping screen histories. Kate McKinnon fares best of them, injecting consistent freshness into her off-kilter line readings and screwy reactions as eccentric engineer Jillian Holtzmann, who builds the team’s anti-ghost gadgets — from familiar proton blasters to new improved gizmos.
Variety.com — All reboots are haunted by the specter of the movie that inspired them, but Sony’s new gender-swapped “Ghostbusters” — which substitutes comediennes Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones for the previously all-male paranormal exterminator squad — suffers from a disappointingly strong case of déjà vu. While both funnier and scarier than Ivan Reitman’s 1984 original, this otherwise over-familiar remake from “Bridesmaids” director Paul Feig doesn’t do nearly enough to innovate on what has come before, even going so far as to conjure most of the earlier film’s cast in cameos that undercut the new film’s chemistry.
EntertainmentWeekly.com — Feig’s comedy is finally here and it’s time to ask the only question that should’ve been posed in the first place: Is the new Ghostbusters funny? The answer is: Kind of, but not nearly to the degree it should be considering the talent involved.
