David Twohy Makes A Perfect Getaway

It’s been five years since David Twohy directed Vin Diesel in The Chronicles of Riddick, the sequel to the sci-fi thriller Pitch Black that was somewhat of a shocking departure from the dark stylish horror that found Twohy such a large fanbase, being more of a big budget sci-fi action adventure with huge sets that somehow felt like it was overreaching.

Now, Twohy is back with A Perfect Getaway, a tension-filled thriller that follows a newlywed couple, played by Steve Zahn and Milla Jovovich, on their honeymoon in Hawaii who start hearing stories about brutal murders on a neighboring island and start suspecting two other couples they keep encountering on their travels, including a pair of survivalists played by Timothy Olyphant (Deadwood) and Kiele Sanchez (Lost). It’s a fun character-based story that takes full advantage of the island surroundings to keep the viewer guessing who might be the killer and what might happen next. had a chance to sit down with Twohy for an exclusive interview, and we quickly learned that Two is not only super-smart but he’s also the epitome of Hollywood cool when it comes to screenwriters — he reminded us of Mamet in that sense — making this a true two-way interaction rather than just another typical filmmaker Q ‘n’ A.

Kevin Feige Talks THOR at Comic Con

The big news recently on THOR was the casting of Natalie Portman but at Comic Con we caught up with Kevin Feige who revealed the film will begin shooting in January. He revealed to us that finding his lead Chris Hemsworth who played young Captain Kirk in JJ Abrams Star Trek was a perfect fit. He said quote:

You know what, it’s one of those rare things that doesn’t happen often but people like me always say it so it probably sounds cliché. We auditioned a lot of people. We did a lot of screen tests. We put a lot of people on video and one guy just kept popping out and it was Chris. You realize, regardless of what he’s saying or how he’s saying it, you’re engaged with him. It’s that movie star quality which I think he has. And, thankfully, he looks like Thor which is a good combination.

As far as how the film is coming he revealed:

Kenneth is great and we’ve got Tom Hiddleston, we’ve got Chris Hemsworth who I can’t wait until next year when we bring all of those guys out here. Natalie Portman’s on board which we’ve mentioned. I think we’re nearing, closing in on Odins and Heindels and the Warriors Three which we’re excited about. We’re about halfway through prep. We start filming in January.

Titan Goes Down to The Woods with Whedon…

Titan will be releasing official tie-ins to the upcoming Joss Whedon/Drew Goddard horror movie from MGM, CABIN IN THE WOODS!

The awesome duo, who worked together on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, are teaming up for this horror film to end all horror films. Co-written by the pair and directed by Goddard, who also wrote last year’s hit monster movie Cloverfield, the details of the plot are a closely guarded secret, though Joss himself has described it as “a straight-up, balls-out, really terrifying horror movie,” adding,”it is not just a slasher in the woods. It’s a little more complicated than that…”

All will be revealed in the Official Novelisation and the Official Visual Companion both set for release alongside the movie in February 2010. In true Titan style, the Companion promises in-depth interviews, stunning production art, and hundreds of color photos, plus the full screenplay by Whedon and Goddard.
